How o9 Works Understanding the Basics

Chapter 1 ยท Topic 1

Item

Item
  • Has a unique Item ID across the entire network
  • Classified as raw material, WIP, or finished good
  • Carries unit of measure, shelf life, and planning horizon
  • Can be stocked at multiple network locations
  • Every supply and demand signal in o9 is tied to an item

An Item is the most fundamental building block in o9 โ€” anything that can be planned, produced, stored, bought, or sold. It can be a raw material, a semi-finished good, a finished product, or a packaging component. Every supply and demand signal, every production order, and every purchase requisition in o9 is tied to an item. Think of items as the nouns of your supply chain: everything else acts on them or connects them.
