Chapter 99 · Topic 6
Node Topic Layout
- Consumes one or more input items, produces one or more outputs
- Defines yield: how much output per unit of input consumed
- Has a lead time — the duration of the transformation
- Runs at a specific location (plant or manufacturing node)
- Can be chained to form multi-level Bills of Materials
The Node Topic layout is designed for concepts that have a canonical visual representation in the o9 data model. The left panel shows an SVG diagram of how the object sits in the network graph; the right panel lists its key characteristics as bullet points. A summary card below ties it together with a plain-language description. Use this layout when you're introducing one of the four network primitives: Item, Transformation Process, Transportation Process, or Resource.
